The Art of Receiving
People often ask me to explain the meaning behind something in the book. But their guess is probably as good as mine. (Inspiration is a mysterious gift: it doesn’t always come with explanations.) Many of the ideas in the book were something that I dreamt or a revelation that I woke up with. Even more of them were something that I glimpsed out of the corner of my mind’s eye and then brought into focus through continuing exploration and (often intense) discussions with my co-author, Rob. In this way, The Backstage Man, like a lot of artistic endeavors, was more received than produced. We just tried to see the possibilities, throw some colors on them so others could see them too, and then chisel away the impurities.
